Please note:
We are expecting hundreds to attend. For parking and transportation options,
please see our Getting There page for alternatives — where to park west of the I-80/580 freeway, and transit/bike information.

To make your experience great, bring:
  • Sunscreen and drinking water, especially if you are helping with setup.
  • Layers of clothing including hats and gloves: It can get quite windy and cool in the evening.
  • Drinking water and food. (The Waterside Workshops café has coffee, tea, snacks. No other food available in the park.)
  • Donation toward event costs (optional, but this is what makes it all possible) — cash preferred.
  • A flashlight — it gets dark around 8:30 p.m.
  • We provide the lanterns (please don’t take home; we re-use each year) and all supplies for decorating.
  • Please do not bring dogs; the event will be very crowded and uncomfortable for furry friends.
Special needs
  • ASL or other special needs: Please contact us by July 11.
  • Wheelchair accessible (decorating and program occur at north end of lagoon, near disabled parking; entire event site spans approximately ½ mile along paved pathways).
  • Disabled parking spaces along east side of East Bolivar Drive near Addison Street. Addison will be closed off; enter park (driving west) on Bancroft Way, turn right (north) on Bolivar Drive. Exit south and via Bancroft Way; no Addison St. exit.

Support

The Bay Area Japanese Lantern Ceremony for World Peace is supported by local organizations and individual participants. Please help make this event possible:
Be an event co-sponsor ($50 and up) — we'll list you in our publicity. A $125 donation enables us to buy a table for shade decorating, labeled to show you as the table sponsor.
Donate any amount — it helps!
